Pushing Performance: Deutsche Hydrapro’s Texas Testing with our engineering team

Our engineering team recently traveled to Deutsche Hydrapro in Texas to help us put our newest Electric-Over-Hydraulic (EOH) trailer brake actuator technology through its paces.

The focus of the trip was simple: push our systems to the limit in real-world conditions. Using large gooseneck trailers, we tested across multiple scenarios, measuring performance, responsiveness, and reliability. From long hauls to sudden stops, our actuators were challenged to deliver the consistent braking power and proportional control that define Deutsche Hydrapro.

One of the standout achievements from this round of testing came from a novel control protocol developed by one of our engineers. This innovative approach uses sensors to make the trailer brake actuator fully independent from the tow vehicle, while maintaining precise proportional control during motion.

The days were long and the Texas heat was relentless, but the results were worth it. There were a few bumps along the way, as any rigorous field test will bring, but the success of these trials is a testament to the engineering, determination, and collaboration behind the scenes.

A special thanks to Brad Phifer of Deutsche Hydrapro for his hands-on support and expertise during testing, and to our team for their dedication in advancing braking technology alongside us.

At Deutsche Hydrapro, we’re committed to continual improvement and innovation—ensuring our customers experience the safest, most reliable EOH braking on the market. This latest round of testing brings us one step closer to that goal.

Upgrade Your Trailer Braking: Hydrapro Alpha G-1200 Actuator Overview

When it comes to towing heavy loads, having a reliable and responsive braking system is crucial for safety and control. The Hydrapro Alpha G-1200 Electric Over Hydraulic (EOH) Actuator offers a significant upgrade over traditional surge brake systems, providing faster response times and improved braking performance for your trailer.

Why Choose the Hydrapro Alpha G-1200?
The Hydrapro Alpha G-1200 is designed to enhance the braking capabilities of trailers equipped with hydraulic drum brakes. It delivers a maximum output pressure of 1,200 psi, ensuring that your trailer's brakes engage quickly and effectively. In fact, the actuator can apply full braking pressure in just 0.84 seconds after receiving a signal from your brake controller, offering a much faster response than many competing systems.

Key Features

Installation Overview

Installing the Hydrapro Alpha G-1200 involves mounting the actuator to your trailer, connecting the hydraulic lines to your drum brakes, and wiring the unit to your brake controller and breakaway system. The actuator's wiring configuration includes:

It's important to ensure that your trailer is equipped with a DOT-required battery-powered breakaway device and a 7-way trailer connector to send the necessary signals.

Upgrading to the Hydrapro Alpha G-1200 EOH Actuator can significantly enhance your trailer's braking performance, providing faster response times and greater control during towing. Its robust design, ease of installation, and compatibility with existing brake controllers make it an excellent choice for those looking to improve safety and reliability on the road.

Trailer Repair Warranty Rights: Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

If you’ve ever been told that using a different brand’s actuator, brake system, or other components with your trailer axles will void your warranty, you may want to take a closer look at your rights as a consumer. We’ve encountered situations where trailer manufacturers, dealers, and customers were misinformed about trailer repair warranties and warranty coverage, and we want to make sure you have the facts.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (MMWA) is a federal law that generally prohibits companies from voiding trailer repair warranties solely because a consumer uses their product with a competitor's product. This means manufacturers cannot condition warranty coverage on the use of specific brands or products unless they can prove that the competitor’s product directly caused damage. This law serves as a vital consumer protection measure under the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines and applies to many industries, including trailer repair warranties.

Key Protections Under the MMWA:

What This Means for You as a Trailer Owner

If you’re considering using a different brand’s actuator, brake assembly, or other parts with your axles, know that you cannot legally be forced to use only the manufacturer’s brand to maintain warranty coverage—unless they provide proof that the competitor’s part caused damage.

However, choosing high-quality parts from reputable brands is always advisable to ensure safety and reliability. If a dealer or manufacturer tells you that your trailer repair warranties are automatically void due to a third-party part, you have the right to challenge that claim and request written proof of the policy’s legality.

Have You Been Denied a Trailer Repair Warranty Claim Unfairly?

If you believe a manufacturer or dealer has wrongly denied your trailer repair warranties due to using non-OEM parts, you can:
