Pushing Performance: Deutsche Hydrapro’s Texas Testing with Aston Dynamics
The Aston Dynamics engineering team recently traveled to Deutsche Hydrapro in Texas to help us put our newest Electric-Over-Hydraulic (EOH) trailer brake actuator technology through its paces.
The focus of the trip was simple: push our systems to the limit in real-world conditions. Using large gooseneck trailers, we tested across multiple scenarios, measuring performance, responsiveness, and reliability. From long hauls to sudden stops, our actuators were challenged to deliver the consistent braking power and proportional control that define Deutsche Hydrapro.
One of the standout achievements from this round of testing came from a novel control protocol developed by one of Aston Dynamics’ engineers. This innovative approach uses external sensors to make the trailer brake actuator fully vehicle-agnostic, while maintaining precise proportional control during motion.
The days were long and the Texas heat was relentless, but the results were worth it. There were a few bumps along the way, as any rigorous field test will bring, but the success of these trials is a testament to the engineering, determination, and collaboration behind the scenes.
A special thanks to Brad Phifer of Deutsche Hydrapro for his hands-on support and expertise during testing, and to the Aston Dynamics team for their dedication in advancing braking technology alongside us.
At Deutsche Hydrapro, we’re committed to continual improvement and innovation—ensuring our customers experience the safest, most reliable EOH braking on the market. This latest round of testing brings us one step closer to that goal.
